I got to have a great lunch today with my old friend Julie and her dad. Julie and I are old friends from our Bradley days. She has been living in Arizona ever since, but (luckily for me!) her sister lives about 30 minutes away from me.....giving us a perfect chance for a visit when she comes. It's always fun to mix my old life with my new one....and nothing could have made me happier than handing over my new baby to my old friend.Friday, February 19, 2010

birthday girl
She woke up and asked if she was really, really three? She picked out her own outfit....her favorite tights and "super fast" shoes. She had her cupcake picked out before 7:30. (a.m.) She got a scooter....and kept one hand on it for most of the rest of the day. She got her own birthday smock, embroidered by her great grandma. She got dinner at Noodles, and ate all of it....Grandma on one side, Grandpa on the other. She wished for sweater puppies and ballerinas and blew out her candles. Bedtime stories with Grandpa, and four big people to give her kisses and tell her that No, Erin....there is no scary stuff in the house. Sweet dreams, little girl.It was a good day. A really, really good day.

(almost) three
Three years ago today, I was dancing around the living room with Kate sitting on my big, swollen belly....trying to get that sweet new baby to come out and meet us.Now when I call her baby, she corrects me with "big girl, mama!" Three years? Incredible. I guess you're right, big girl. This morning, she told me I was her best mama. Right now, she's my best almost-three.

good company
I have to admit....it's a full house. It's a busy house. It's usually pretty chaotic, and mealtimes and bedtimes can be a bit stressful. However, I am truly so grateful for the company of this little addition....during the day and even during the night, I'm pretty happy to have her by my side. Here she is, checking facebook with me. It's good to keep updated!

big girl
It's official---as of today, no more bottles. Annie has been a connoisseur of warm milk in a bottle, morning and afternoon, for probably what has been longer than necessary. I'm so proud of her....she's such a big girl now. I'm only a tiny little bit sad....what happened to my baby? Maybe I should wait and wonder that when she stops walking around the house, trailing her blanket and sucking her thumb.
